Description

Cardura (Doxazosin) Tablets 2 mg. №30

Composition

The active ingredient in Cardura is Doxazosin Mesylate. Each tablet contains 2 mg of Doxazosin.

Mechanism of Action

Doxazosin, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, works by relaxing smooth muscles in the blood vessels and prostate, leading to vasodilation and improved urinary flow.

Pharmacological Properties

Cardura (Doxazosin) exhibits antihypertensive effects by decreasing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. It also helps alleviate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia by reducing urethral resistance.

Indications for Use

Cardura is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia in adult patients.

Contraindications

  • Cardura is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to quinazolines, Doxazosin, or any of its components.
  • It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of orthostatic hypotension.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Cardura may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, and hypotension. Patients should seek medical attention if they experience severe dizziness or difficulty breathing.

Usage Instructions

The recommended starting dose for Cardura is 1 mg daily. The dosage may be titrated to 2 mg daily based on individual patient response. It should be taken orally once daily with or without food. Patients are advised to swallow the tablet whole.

Benefits Compared to Analogues

Cardura offers the advantage of dual indication for both hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia, providing a comprehensive treatment approach for patients with both conditions compared to single-indication medications.

Suitable Patient Groups

Cardura is suitable for adult patients including the elderly population. Dosing adjustments may be necessary in patients with hepatic impairment. It is not recommended for use in pediatric patients.

Storage and Shelf Life

Cardura should be stored at controlled room temperature between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Protect from light and moisture. The shelf life of the product is as indicated on the packaging.

Packaging Description
