Description
Corinfar (Nifedipine) Tablets with Prolonged Release 10 mg. №100 Vial
Composition
Active ingredient: Nifedipine 10 mg.
Other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, cellulose microcrystalline, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate.
Mechanism of Action
Nifedipine, the active ingredient in Corinfar, inhibits the influx of calcium ions into cardiac and smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and decreased peripheral vascular resistance. This mechanism of action helps in reducing blood pressure and relieving angina symptoms.
Pharmacological Properties
Nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker, acts by relaxing blood vessels, improving blood flow, and reducing blood pressure.
Indications for Use
Corinfar tablets are indicated for the treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina.
Contraindications
Do not use Corinfar tablets if you have a known hypersensitivity to nifedipine or any of the excipients. Avoid use in patients with severe hypotension or cardiogenic shock.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, flushing, and peripheral edema. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any severe or persistent side effects.
Usage Instructions
Dosage: The usual dose is 10 mg once daily. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, do not crush or chew.
Take Corinfar tablets exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not suddenly stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Compared to other calcium channel blockers, nifedipine has shown similar efficacy in managing hypertension and angina. However, its extended-release formulation in Corinfar offers the advantage of once-daily dosing and better compliance for patients.
Suitable Patient Groups
Corinfar tablets are suitable for adult patients with hypertension and chronic stable angina. Dosage adjustments may be necessary for elderly patients based on individual health conditions.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Corinfar tablets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the vial tightly closed. Check the expiration date on the packaging and do not use the tablets beyond that date.
Packaging Description
Corinfar tablets are supplied in a vial containing 100 tablets of 10 mg each with prolonged release formulation.
Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness
Studies have shown that nifedipine is effective in the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. Research published in the American Journal of Medicine demonstrated the efficacy of nifedipine in reducing blood pressure and improving exercise tolerance in patients with angina.
It is essential to monitor blood pressure regularly while taking Corinfar tablets to ensure optimal control. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
