Xalacom (Latanoprost / Timolol) Eye Drops 2.5 ml Vial №1
Ingredients:
Each ml contains 50 micrograms of latanoprost and 5 mg of timolol (as timolol maleate).
Mechanism of Action:
Xalacom combines the prostaglandin analog latanoprost and the beta-blocker timolol to effectively lower intraocular pressure. Latanoprost increases uveoscleral outflow, while timolol reduces aqueous humor production.
Pharmacological Properties:
The combination of latanoprost and timolol in Xalacom provides additive effects in lowering intraocular pressure compared to monotherapy.
Indications for Use:
Xalacom is indicated for the reduction of intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
Contraindications:
Do not use Xalacom in patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sinus bradycardia, second or third-degree atrioventricular block, or overt heart failure.
Side Effects:
Adverse effects of Xalacom may include ocular irritation, hyperpigmentation of the iris, and changes to periocular and eyelash hair. Caution is advised in patients with cardiovascular diseases due to the beta-blocking effects of timolol.
Usage Instructions:
The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Administer one drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.
