Description
Dexobel (Dexketoprofen) Coated Tablets 25 mg. №20
Composition
Each coated tablet contains 25 mg of dexketoprofen trometamol as the active ingredient.
Mechanism of Action
Dexketoprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins which are mediators of pain and inflammation.
Pharmacological Properties
Dexketoprofen trometamol is rapidly absorbed after oral administration and reaches peak plasma concentrations within 1-2 hours. It has a half-life of approximately 2-3 hours and is extensively metabolized in the liver. The main metabolites are pharmacologically inactive.
Indications for Use
Dexobel tablets are indicated for the relief of mild to moderate pain conditions such as muscular pain, joint pain, dental pain, and dysmenorrhea in adults.
Contraindications
Do not use Dexobel tablets if you have a history of allergic reactions to dexketoprofen, other NSAIDs, or if you have active peptic ulcers. Avoid use in patients with a history of asthma, rhinitis, or urticaria associated with aspirin or other NSAIDs.
Side Effects
Common side effects of dexketoprofen include gastrointestinal disturbances such as dyspepsia, nausea, and abdominal pain. Less frequently, adverse effects like headache, dizziness, and skin rashes may occur. In rare cases, severe gastrointestinal bleeding or allergic reactions may manifest.
Usage Instructions
The recommended dosage for adults is one tablet (25 mg) every 8 hours as needed for pain relief. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Dexketoprofen offers potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects with a lower risk of gastrointestinal side effects compared to traditional NSAIDs like diclofenac. Its rapid onset of action and short half-life make it a suitable option for acute pain management.
Suitable Patient Groups
Dexobel tablets are generally well-tolerated by adults including the elderly population. However, caution is advised in patients with renal impairment or cardiovascular disease due to potential risks of fluid retention and cardiovascular events.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Dexobel tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the medication out of reach of children. Check the expiration date on the packaging and do not use the tablets after the specified shelf life.
Packaging Description
Dexobel tablets are supplied in blister packs containing 20 coated tablets. The packaging should be intact and undamaged prior to use. Each tablet is imprinted with the product name and dosage strength for easy identification.
Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness
Several studies have demonstrated the efficacy of dexketoprofen in the management of acute and chronic pain conditions. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Pain Research concluded that dexketoprofen provides effective pain relief with a favorable safety profile.
