1. What Efizol is and what it is used for
Efizol® is an antiseptic and disinfectant medicine used locally in the mouth and throat.
It combines dequalinium chloride (an antimicrobial agent) with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to relieve sore throat, mouth infections, and irritation of the oral cavity.
Indications:
- 
Sore throat, pharyngitis, or tonsillitis
 - 
Gingivitis and stomatitis (inflammation of gums and mouth)
 - 
Aphthae (mouth ulcers)
 - 
Post-dental surgery or oral hygiene maintenance
 - 
Prevention and treatment of throat infections caused by bacteria or fungi
 
2. Composition
Each lozenge contains:

Excipients (inactive ingredients):
Sucrose, lactose monohydrate, glucose monohydrate, cocoa powder, pectin, vanillin, sodium saccharin, magnesium stearate, and other flavoring agents (depending on variant).
3. How Efizol works
- 
Dequalinium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with strong antiseptic and antifungal activity. It destroys bacterial cell membranes, effectively reducing bacterial growth in the throat and mouth.

Ascorbic acid supports the immune system, promotes healing of mucous membranes, and provides a mild antioxidant effect.
 
Together, these ingredients help soothe pain, reduce inflammation, and disinfect the mouth and throat.
4. Dosage and administration
- 
Adults and children over 6 years:
Dissolve one lozenge in the mouth every 2–3 hours, up to a maximum of 8 lozenges per day.
Do not chew or swallow the lozenge; let it dissolve slowly for optimal effect.

Children under 6 years:
Use only after consultation with a doctor.
 
Duration of use:
Usually 3–5 days. If symptoms persist beyond 5 days, seek medical advice.
5. Contraindications
Do not use Efizol if you:
- 
Are allergic to dequalinium chloride, ascorbic acid, or any excipients
 - 
Have fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency
 - 
Are under 6 years of age
 
6. Warnings and precautions
- 
Avoid using immediately before or after brushing teeth (the toothpaste may reduce effectiveness).
 - 
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
 - 
Prolonged use (over 10 days) may disturb the normal balance of oral flora.
 - 
If you experience mouth irritation, rash, or swelling, discontinue use and consult a physician.
 - 
Contains sugars; people with diabetes should use with caution.
 
7. Side effects
Efizol is generally well tolerated.
Possible side effects (rare or very rare):
- 
Mild irritation or numbness in the mouth or throat
 - 
Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)
 - 
Gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea or stomach upset)
 
If you experience severe allergic symptoms, stop using the medicine and seek medical help immediately.
8. Storage
- 
Store below 25 °C, in a dry place.
 - 
Keep out of reach of children.
 - 
Do not use after the expiry date printed on the package.
