Description
Accuzid-20 (Quinaprilum and Hydrochlorothiazide) Coated Tablets 20 mg/12.5 mg. №30
Composition
Active ingredients: Quinaprilum 20 mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg.
Mechanism of Action
Pharmacological Properties: Quinapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, inhibits the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, resulting in decreased plasma volume and subsequent blood pressure reduction.
Indications for Use
Indications: Accuzid-20 is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.
Contraindications
Contraindications: Do not use Accuzid-20 if you are allergic to quinaprilum, hydrochlorothiazide, or any other ingredients, have a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy, or suffer from severe renal impairment.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Accuzid-20 may include dizziness, lightheadedness, and electrolyte imbalances. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any severe or persistent side effects.
Usage Instructions
Dosage: The usual recommended dose is one tablet daily. Consult your healthcare provider for personalized dosing instructions based on your individual condition.
Directions: Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Accuzid-20 can be taken with or without food.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Accuzid-20 offers the combined benefits of an ACE inhibitor and a diuretic, providing enhanced blood pressure control compared to monotherapy with either drug alone. Studies have shown superior efficacy and tolerability with this combination therapy.
Suitable Patient Groups
Accuzid-20 is suitable for adult patients with hypertension. It may be prescribed to elderly individuals and certain pediatric populations under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Accuzid-20 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the tablets in their original packaging to protect them from moisture. Check the expiration date on the packaging and do not use the product if it has expired.
Packaging Description
Accuzid-20 is available in blister packs containing 30 coated tablets. Each tablet is imprinted with the product name and strength for easy identification.
Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness
Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of Accuzid-20 in lowering blood pressure through its dual mechanism of action. Research published in the Journal of Hypertension supports the use of ACE inhibitors in combination with diuretics as a first-line treatment for hypertension due to their synergistic effects on blood pressure control. Clinical trials have consistently shown significant reductions in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure with Accuzid-20 therapy, as reported in the American Journal of Hypertension.
