Other ingredients: glycerol, glyceryl monostearate, cetostearyl alcohol, oleyl alcohol, disodium edetate, benzyl alcohol, refined peanut oil, sodium hydroxide, and purified water.
Mechanism of Action
Methylprednízolon, a synthetic corticosteroid, exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive actions by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators and suppressing immune responses in the skin.
Indications for Use
Advantan cream is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. It is suitable for short-term use in adults and children over 4 months of age.
Contraindications
Do not use Advantan cream in patients with a known hypersensitivity to methylprednízolon or any of the other ingredients in the formulation. Avoid use on the face, eyes, anogenital region, or on broken or infected skin.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include burning, itching, irritation, dryness, or redness at the application site. Contact a healthcare provider if these side effects persist or worsen.
Usage Instructions
Apply a thin layer of Advantan cream to the affected area once daily. Do not cover the treated skin with a bandage or dressing unless directed by a healthcare provider.
Wash and dry the affected area before applying Advantan cream. Gently rub the cream into the skin until it is evenly distributed. Wash hands after application unless hands are the treated area.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
In comparative studies, Advantan cream has shown similar efficacy to other topical corticosteroids in treating dermatoses while offering the advantage of a lower risk of systemic side effects due to its lower absorption rate.
Suitable Patient Groups
Advantan cream is suitable for use in adults and children over 4 months of age. It should be used with caution in elderly patients and individuals with compromised immune systems.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Advantan cream at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Check the expiration date on the packaging and do not use the product if expired.
Packaging Description
Advantan cream is available in a 15 g tube. Each tube is labeled with the product name, active ingredient concentration, and usage instructions.
Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness
Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of methylprednízolon in reducing inflammation and relieving pruritus associated with various dermatological conditions. Research by Smith et al. (2018) showed that topical methylprednízolon was effective in improving symptoms of eczema with minimal side effects.
Advantan cream offers a targeted approach to managing skin inflammation by delivering the active ingredient directly to the affected area. Clinical trials have highlighted its rapid onset of action and favorable safety profile compared to systemic corticosteroids. Patients using Advantan cream should follow the prescribed dosage and duration to maximize benefits and minimize potential side effects.
