Agerp (acyclovir) cream is indicated for the treatment of infections of the lips and face, which are caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Description
The composition of the medicinal product:
active substance:
1 g of cream contains 50 mg of acyclovir;
auxiliary substances : paraffin, white soft alcohol, cetostearyl propylene glycol, mineral oil, arlacel 165, sodium poloxamer, lauryl sulfate, dimethicone, purified water.
Agerp belongs to antiviral agents that are highly effective against herpes viruses, especially herpes simplex viruses of types I and II, as well as herpes zoster virus. After entering a cell affected by the herpes virus, acyclovir is converted into active acyclovir triphosphate. Its activity is associated with disruption of DNA synthesis of herpesviruses in human cells as a result of inhibition of viral DNA polymerase function. Acyclovir does not affect other cellular processes that are not related to the synthesis of viral DNA. The pharmacokinetics of the drug have not been studied, but based on literature data, acyclovir in the form of a cream has a very low level of systemic absorption even with repeated use.
Indications for use.
Infections of the lips and face are caused by the herpes simplex virus ( Herpes labialis ).
Contraindication.
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, other components of the drug or valacyclovir.
Appropriate safety measures during use.
Accidental contact of the cream with the eyes should be avoided. In the presence of open lesions of the lips, it should be borne in mind that the herpes simplex virus can be transmitted to other people by contact.
Special warnings.
Agerp cream should be used only for herpetic lesions of the mucous membrane of the lips and facial skin. It is not recommended to apply the medicine to the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, eyes and genitals. In case of particularly pronounced manifestations of the disease, it is necessary to consult a doctor. Usually, in the presence of herpetic lesions in persons with immunodeficiency conditions, systemic treatment with antiviral agents is prescribed, therefore, in such cases, Agerp should not be used independently without consulting a doctor.
