Direct acting expectorant. A herbal preparation containing Althaeae radix extractum, the main biologically active substances of which are polysaccharides, as well as pectins, amino acids, starch. The polysaccharides of the drug are absorbed into the blood, partially excreted by the bronchial glands and have an enveloping, softening and anti-inflammatory effect on the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, slightly increasing the release of the liquid component of the bronchial secretion and normalizing its rheological properties (viscosity, elasticity, adhesiveness). It enhances the peristaltic movements of the bronchioles and the motor function of the ciliated epithelium of the bronchi, contributing to the excretion of sputum.

Ingredients

active ingredient:  1 tablet contains dry marshmallow root extract (Althaeae radix extractum siccum) (4: 1) – 0.12 g;

excipients:  magnesium carbonate, lactose, aspartame (E 951), povidone, orange flavor, magnesium stearate.

Dosage form

 Chewable tablets.

Basic physical and chemical properties.  Tablets of grayish-brown color with inclusions, with a flat surface, line and chamfer.

Pharmacodynamics

Indications

 As part of the complex treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the respiratory system: laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, whooping cough.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, diabetes mellitus.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction

It is not recommended to use simultaneously with antitussives (codeine).

Dosage and administration

For oral use. Take before meals, chew and drink with a little water. Adults and children over 14 years of age take 1 tablet 4-6 times a day.

Doses for children, depending on age, are:

  • 7-14 years – 1 tablet 3-4 times a day;
  • 2-7 years – ½ tablet 3-4 times a day.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually, usually ranging from 7 days to 2 weeks.
