Pharmacodynamics
A pyrazolone derivative, a cyclooxygenase blocker. Reduces the formation of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. It differs from other cyclooxygenase blockers in a slightly pronounced anti-inflammatory effect with a pronounced analgesic, antipyretic and antispasmodic effect. The antispasmodic effect is manifested on the smooth muscles of the urinary and biliary tract.
It prevents the conduction of painful extra- and proprioceptive impulses along the Gaulle and Burdach bundles, increases the excitability threshold of the thalamic centers of pain sensitivity, and increases heat transfer.
Pharmacokinetics
Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. In the intestinal wall, it is hydrolyzed to form an active metabolite. It is absent in the blood unchanged. The active metabolite is 50-60% bound to plasma proteins. The time to reach maximum plasma concentration is 1-2 hours. The half-life is 2.5 hours. Excreted by the kidneys.
