antidiarrheal drugs; drugs used to treat infectious and inflammatory bowel diseases. Other enterosorbents. ATX code A07B C05.

Pharmacodynamics

Diosmectite is a double silicate of aluminum and magnesium.

Due to the stereometric structure and high plastic viscosity, Apsorbin has a high enveloping ability in relation to the mucous membrane of the digestive tract.

Diosmectite, by interacting with mucosal glycoproteins, increases the resistance of mucus to irritants. By acting on the barrier function of the mucous membrane of the digestive system and due to its high ability to bind to the mucous membrane, it protects the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. Diosmectite is radiolucent, does not stain feces, and at normal doses does not affect physiological intestinal transit time.

The combined results of comparative studies of the efficacy of diosmectite and placebo in patients suffering from acute diarrhea showed a significant reduction in stool frequency during the first 72 hours in the group of patients treated with diosmectite in combination with oral rehydration.

Pharmacokinetics

Due to the structure of diosmectite, Apsorbin is neither absorbed nor metabolized.
