Promotes transportation from the internal environment of the body (blood, lymph, interstitium) to the digestive tract due to concentration and osmotic gradients of various toxic products, including medium molecules, oligopeptides, amines and other substances, followed by excretion from the body.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is practically not absorbed from the intestine.
Indications
Acute intestinal diseases accompanied by diarrheal syndrome (salmonellosis, food poisoning); in the complex therapy of viral hepatitis A and B.
Outwardly – the treatment of purulent wounds, trophic ulcers and burns.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to silicon dioxide;
- peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute stage;
- ulcers and erosion of the intestine;
- intestinal obstruction.
Dosage and administration
Atoxil is taken as a suspension for internal use. Stir the contents of 1 – 2 sachets (2 – 4 g) thoroughly in 50 – 100 ml (¼-½ cup) of neutral non-carbonated or chilled boiled water until a homogeneous suspension is formed.
Open the bottle with the powder, add neutral non-carbonated or cooled boiled water to the 250 ml mark, mix until a homogeneous suspension is formed.
The daily dose for adults and children over 7 years of age is 12 g, if necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 24 g; for children from 1 to 7 years old, the daily dose is 150-200 mg per 1 kg of body weight. Divide the daily dose into 3-4 doses. The maximum single dose should not exceed half of the daily dose.
The prepared aqueous suspension of the drug is taken orally 1 hour before meals or medications.
In acute intestinal diseases for adults and children over 7 years of age, it is advisable to start treatment with a maximum single dose of 7 g, take the drug 2 times a day. If the patient cannot take the enterosorbent on his own, the suspension of Atoxil is injected into the stomach through a tube.
In acute intestinal diseases, the course of treatment is 3-5 days. In severe cases, the treatment period can be extended up to 10 – 15 days.
The course of treatment of viral hepatitis depends on the severity of the course of the disease and is 7-10 days.
Outdoor application. After cleansing the wound, apply the powder with a layer of 3-5 mm and cover with a dry aseptic dressing. Dressings should be done a day before the wound is cleansed.
