Description
Cardazin (Trimetazidine) Coated Tablets 20 mg. №60
Composition
The active ingredient in Cardazin is trimetazidine. Each coated tablet contains 20 mg of trimetazidine.
Mechanism of Action
Trimetazidine acts by shifting myocardial metabolism from free fatty acid oxidation to glucose oxidation, thereby preserving energy metabolism and improving myocardial function.
Pharmacological Properties
Cardazin exerts anti-ischemic effects by improving cellular metabolism in ischemic conditions. It enhances glucose oxidation in the heart muscle, leading to increased energy production and improved cardiac function.
Indications for Use
Cardazin is indicated for the treatment of angina pectoris. Additionally, it can be used for vertigo, tinnitus, and visual disturbances of vascular origin.
Contraindications
Cardazin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to trimetazidine. It should not be used in patients with severe renal impairment or in combination with other drugs that prolong the QT interval.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Cardazin may include gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, headache, and asthenia. In rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as rash or angioedema may occur.
Usage Instructions
Cardazin should be taken orally with meals. The recommended dosage is one tablet twice a day. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered, unless it is close to the next scheduled dose.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Cardazin offers the advantage of improved myocardial metabolism without affecting heart rate or blood pressure, making it a suitable option for patients with angina pectoris and associated conditions.
Suitable Patient Groups
Cardazin is suitable for adult patients with angina pectoris and related symptoms. It is not recommended for use in children, pregnant women, or elderly patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Storage and Shelf Life
Cardazin should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The tablets have a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture.
