Description
Cardiodaron (Amiodarone) Solution for Injections 5% 3 ml. №10
Composition
The active ingredient in Cardiodaron is Amiodarone. Each 3 ml ampoule contains 150 mg of Amiodarone.
Mechanism of Action
Amiodarone acts by prolonging the action potential and refractory period in myocardial tissues, thereby affecting sodium, potassium, and calcium channels. This results in antiarrhythmic effects by reducing automaticity and slowing conduction in the heart.
Pharmacological Properties
Amiodarone exhibits Class III antiarrhythmic properties by blocking potassium channels, calcium channels, and adrenergic receptors. It also possesses mild beta-blocking and calcium channel blocking activities.
Indications for Use
Cardiodaron is indicated for the treatment of severe rhythm disorders that are refractory to other antiarrhythmic therapies. This includes ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia.
Contraindications
Cardiodaron is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amiodarone or any of the other ingredients, severe sinus node dysfunction, and second or third-degree heart block. It should not be used in patients with iodine hypersensitivity.
Side Effects
The use of Cardiodaron may lead to side effects such as pulmonary toxicity, thyroid dysfunction, liver toxicity, corneal microdeposits, and skin photosensitivity. Regular monitoring is essential to detect and manage these potential adverse effects.
Usage Instructions
Cardiodaron is for intravenous use only and should be administered by a healthcare professional in a controlled clinical setting. The dosage and duration of treatment should be individualized based on the patient’s condition and response to therapy.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Cardiodaron offers the advantage of a broad spectrum of antiarrhythmic activity, making it effective in treating various types of arrhythmias that are unresponsive to conventional therapies. Its long half-life allows for less frequent dosing, improving patient compliance and convenience.
Suitable Patient Groups
Cardiodaron can be used in adult patients with severe arrhythmias that are difficult to control with other medications. Special caution is needed when administering to elderly patients due to the increased risk of adverse effects. Pediatric use should be carefully evaluated based on individual considerations.
Storage and Shelf Life
Cardiodaron should be stored at controlled room temperature away from light and moisture. The shelf life of the product is indicated on the packaging and should be strictly adhered to. Discard any unused portions after the expiration date.
Packaging Description
Each package of Cardiodaron contains 10 ampoules of 3 ml solution for injections, with each ampoule providing 150 mg of Amiodarone. The packaging is designed to maintain the integrity of the product and ensure proper storage conditions.
