Cardiseiv (Acetylsalicylic Acid) Coated Tablets 75 mg. №100
Composition
Each Cardiseiv coated tablet contains 75 mg of acetylsalicylic acid. Other ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch, and colloidal anhydrous silica.
Mechanism of Action
Acetylsalicylic acid inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins which are involved in inflammation, pain, and fever.
Pharmacological Properties
Cardiseiv exhibits antiplatelet, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
Indications for Use
Cardiseiv is indicated for the secondary prevention of thrombotic cerebrovascular or cardiovascular disease and following bypass surgery.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity: Patients with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or any of the excipients should not use Cardiseiv.
- Active Peptic Ulceration: Cardiseiv is contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulceration or any other bleeding disorders.
- Severe Hepatic Impairment: Patients with severe hepatic impairment should not use Cardiseiv.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Cardiseiv may include gastrointestinal disturbances, such as dyspepsia and gastritis, as well as an increased risk of bleeding due to its antiplatelet effects.
Usage Instructions
The usual dosage of Cardiseiv is one tablet daily. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
