Ingredients

The active ingredient in Cefuroxim SAN is cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Each coated tablet contains 500 mg of cefuroxime.

Dosage

The dosage of Cefuroxim SAN depends on the type and severity of the infection. However, the usual adult dose is 1-2 tablets twice a day.

Indications

Cefuroxim SAN is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections, including:

• Respiratory tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Gonorrhea
• Lyme disease

Contraindications

Cefuroxim SAN is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to cefuroxime or other cephalosporin antibiotics. It should also be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease.

Directions

Cefuroxim SAN should be taken with food to enhance absorption. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablets. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is near the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
