Ingredients

The active ingredient in Cefutil is cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Each tablet contains 250 mg of cefuroxime.

Dosage

The dosage of Cefutil varies depending on the severity and type of infection. However, the usual adult dosage is one tablet twice daily.

Indications

Cefutil is indicated for the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections, including:

• Respiratory tract infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Gonorrhea

Contraindications

Cefutil is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics. It should also be used with caution in patients with renal impairment or a history of gastrointestinal disease.

Directions

Cefutil tablets should be taken with food to enhance absorption. The tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
