Description

Ciclocapron (Tranexamic Acid) Solution for Injections 100 mg/ml. 5 ml. Ampoules №5

Ingredients:

Each 5 ml ampoule contains 500 mg of Tranexamic Acid as the active ingredient.

Mechanism of Action:

Tranexamic acid, the active ingredient in Ciclocapron, is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine. It works by competitively inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, which in turn prevents the breakdown of fibrin clots. This antifibrinolytic action helps in reducing excessive bleeding.

Pharmacological Properties:

Ciclocapron exhibits antifibrinolytic activity by blocking the lysine binding sites on plasminogen molecules. This inhibition leads to the stabilization of blood clots and a reduction in bleeding.

Indications for Use:

Ciclocapron is indicated for the management of excessive bleeding during surgical procedures, including cardiac, orthopedic, and gynecological surgeries. It is also used for the treatment of menorrhagia and in patients with hemophilia to control bleeding episodes.

Contraindications:

Ciclocapron is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity to tranexamic acid, those with active thromboembolic disease, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and color vision disturbances. It should not be used in patients with disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) or those at risk of thromboembolic events.

Side Effects:

  • Common side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache.
  • Less common side effects: Hypotension, allergic reactions, visual disturbances.
  • Rare side effects: Seizures, thromboembolism, myopathy.

Usage Instructions:

The recommended dosage of Ciclocapron for adults is 1-1.5 grams (2-3 ampoules) administered intravenously every 8 hours. The solution should be infused over 10 minutes. Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on the patient’s condition and the severity of bleeding.

Benefits Compared to Analogues:

Ciclocapron offers a more targeted approach to managing bleeding by specifically inhibiting fibrinolysis without interfering with platelet function. This selective action reduces the risk of thrombotic events compared to other antifibrinolytic agents.

Suitable Patient Groups:

Ciclocapron can be safely used in adult patients, including the elderly, as well as in pediatric populations under the supervision of a healthcare provider. It is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless the benefits outweigh the risks.

Storage Conditions and Shelf Life:

Store Ciclocapron at controlled room temperature between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Protect from light and moisture. Do not freeze. The shelf life of the product is indicated on the packaging and should be checked before use.

Packaging Description:

Ciclocapron is supplied in 5 ml ampoules, each containing 100 mg/ml of Tranexamic Acid solution for injections. The ampoules are color-coded for easy identification and are packed in cartons for protection.

Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness:

Tranexamic acid has been extensively studied for its hemostatic properties and has demonstrated efficacy in reducing blood loss and transfusion requirements in various clinical settings. Clinical studies have shown that Ciclocapron is effective in controlling bleeding during surgeries, minimizing blood loss in trauma patients, and managing menorrhagia.

Additional Information:

It is crucial to monitor patients receiving Ciclocapron for signs of thrombosis, especially in high-risk individuals. Discontinue the medication if thrombotic events occur and consult a healthcare professional promptly. Proper dosage calculation and administration technique are essential to maximize the benefits of Ciclocapron and minimize the risk of adverse effects.
