Scientific Evidence:

Losartan, the active ingredient in Closart, is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict. Studies have shown that losartan is effective in lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of cardiovascular events. According to a meta-analysis published in the Journal of Hypertension, losartan demonstrated similar efficacy to other antihypertensive drugs in reducing blood pressure levels.

Additional Information:

It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure levels while taking Closart. Inform your doctor about any other medications or supplements you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.

Pharmacological Effects: Losartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II receptor, leading to vasodilation and decreased secretion of aldosterone. This action results in reduced blood pressure and improved blood flow to the heart.

Clinical Trials: A randomized controlled trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine compared the effectiveness of losartan with atenolol in patients with hypertension. The study found that losartan was similarly effective in reducing blood pressure but was better tolerated with fewer side effects.
