Scientific Evidence
Irbesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, work synergistically to lower blood pressure. Irbesartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, while hydrochlorothiazide reduces plasma volume. Clinical studies have shown that the combination of these two medications is more effective in reducing blood pressure compared to monotherapy.
Additional Information
It is important to monitor electrolyte levels regularly while taking Co-Irbesan, especially potassium levels. This medication may cause dizziness, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking before starting Co-Irbesan.
Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of Co-Irbesan in reducing cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension. The combination of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide has shown to provide better blood pressure control and cardiovascular protection compared to individual components alone.
