Description
Corinfar UNO (Nifedipine) Tablets with Prolonged Release 40 mg. №50
Composition
Active ingredient: Nifedipine 40 mg.
Other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, cellulose microcrystalline, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate.
Mechanism of Action
Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions across cell membranes of cardiac and smooth muscle. This leads to vasodilation of coronary and peripheral arteries, reducing myocardial oxygen demand and increasing oxygen delivery to the heart.
Pharmacological Properties
Pharmacological Effects: Nifedipine blocks calcium channels in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle cells, resulting in decreased peripheral vascular resistance, reduced systemic blood pressure, and increased coronary blood flow.
Indications for Use
Corinfar UNO tablets are indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery spasm or atherosclerosis.
Contraindications
Do not use Corinfar UNO tablets if you have a hypersensitivity to nifedipine or any of the tablet components. Use with caution in patients with severe hypotension or hepatic impairment.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, flushing, peripheral edema, and palpitations. Rare but serious adverse reactions can include hypotension, tachycardia, and allergic reactions. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any unusual symptoms.
Usage Instructions
Dosage: The recommended dose is 1 tablet of Corinfar UNO (40 mg) taken orally once daily. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Corinfar UNO offers the advantage of once-daily dosing due to its prolonged-release formulation, providing sustained blood pressure control and symptom relief for angina with reduced risk of dose-related side effects compared to immediate-release formulations.
Suitable Patient Groups
Corinfar UNO is suitable for adults, including the elderly population, for the management of hypertension and angina. Use in children should be determined by a healthcare provider based on individual patient considerations.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Corinfar UNO tablets in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Keep the tablets in the original packaging to protect from moisture and light. Do not use the tablets after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
Packaging Description

Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness
Scientific Evidence: Nifedipine, the active component of Corinfar UNO tablets, has been extensively studied in clinical trials. Research has shown its efficacy in lowering blood pressure and improving symptoms of angina by reducing myocardial oxygen demand and increasing coronary blood flow.
Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the effectiveness of nifedipine in managing hypertension and angina. Notably, a study published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacology reported significant reductions in blood pressure among hypertensive patients treated with nifedipine.
