Scientific Evidence
Metformin, the active ingredient in Diaformin SR, is a first-line medication for the management of type 2 diabetes. Studies have shown that metformin works by decreasing glucose production in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. Research published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation has demonstrated the beneficial effects of metformin in reducing hemoglobin A1c levels and improving overall glycemic control.
Additional Information
Diaformin SR with prolonged release formulation offers the advantage of once-daily dosing, providing a steady release of metformin throughout the day. This can help in reducing gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with immediate-release formulations. It is important to monitor renal function regularly while on metformin therapy to prevent lactic acidosis.
Metformin has been extensively studied in various clinical trials and has consistently shown effectiveness in lowering blood glucose levels and reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications. Additionally, metformin has been associated with potential cardiovascular benefits, making it a valuable treatment option for individuals with type 2 diabetes.
