Diane-35 (ethinylestradiol, cyproterone acetate) coated tablets №21

Ingredients

Diane-35 tablets contain ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate as active ingredients. Each coated tablet also contains lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, talc, sucrose, glycol montanate, titanium dioxide, red and yellow iron oxide.

Dosage

The usual dosage is one tablet daily for 21 days, followed by a 7-day tablet-free interval. The tablets should be taken at the same time each day with some liquid as needed.

Indications

Diane-35 tablets are indicated for the treatment of androgen-dependent diseases in women such as acne, especially pronounced forms of acne (papulopustular or nodular cystic acne) and seborrhea, androgenetic alopecia, and mild forms of hirsutism.

Contraindications

Do not use Diane-35 tablets if you have a history of thromboembolic disorders, cerebrovascular disorders, coronary artery disease, hormone-dependent tumors, liver disease, or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.

Directions

Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider for the proper use of Diane-35 tablets. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration of treatment.

Scientific Evidence

Studies have shown that the combination of ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate in Diane-35 tablets effectively reduces acne lesions and seborrhea by suppressing androgen production and blocking androgen receptors in the skin. Additionally, the contraceptive effect of ethinylestradiol helps regulate menstrual cycles in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Additional Information

It is important to note that Diane-35 tablets should not be used as a first-line treatment for acne due to the risk of serious side effects. Regular monitoring by a healthcare provider is essential during treatment with Diane-35 tablets to assess the response and detect any adverse effects promptly.

Pharmacological Effects: Ethinylestradiol in Diane-35 tablets inhibits ovulation and alters the cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to reach the uterus. Cyproterone acetate acts as an anti-androgen by blocking the effects of androgens in the body, leading to a reduction in acne and hirsutism.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Diane-35 tablets in improving acne and hirsutism in women with androgen-dependent conditions. A study by Lucky et al. (2003) showed a significant reduction in acne lesions and seborrhea after 6 months of treatment with Diane-35 tablets.
