Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. Studies have shown that glimepiride is effective in controlling blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Additional Information

It is important to monitor blood glucose levels regularly while taking Diapirid tablets to ensure optimal control of diabetes. Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.

Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of glimepiride in improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. One study published in the Journal of Diabetes Research found that glimepiride, when used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, significantly reduced HbA1c levels compared to placebo.

Furthermore, comparative effectiveness studies have shown that glimepiride is as effective as other sulfonylureas in lowering blood glucose levels. A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics concluded that glimepiride had similar efficacy and safety profiles to other sulfonylureas.
