Scientific Evidence
Glimepiride, the active ingredient in Diapirid tablets, works by stimulating the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Studies have shown that glimepiride is effective in improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Research published in the Journal of Diabetes Investigation demonstrated that glimepiride, when used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, significantly reduced HbA1c levels.
Additional Information
It is important to monitor blood glucose levels regularly while taking Diapirid tablets to ensure optimal control. Adherence to a healthy diet and regular exercise routine is essential for the best outcomes in diabetes management.
Pharmacological Effects: Glimepiride belongs to the sulfonylurea class of drugs and acts by increasing insulin release from the pancreas, which helps lower blood sugar levels. It also improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of glimepiride in improving glycemic control and reducing HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. A study published in Diabetes Care showed that glimepiride was as effective as metformin in lowering blood glucose levels.
