Description
Difors XL (Amlodipine Besilate and Valsartan) Coated Tablets 10 mg/160 mg. №30
Composition
Each tablet contains 10 mg of amlodipine besilate and 160 mg of valsartan.
Mechanism of Action
Difors XL combines amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, with valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Amlodipine inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance. Valsartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, resulting in vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.
Pharmacological Properties
The combination of amlodipine and valsartan provides complementary mechanisms of action, resulting in enhanced antihypertensive effects. Amlodipine has a long duration of action, while valsartan offers sustained blood pressure control.
Indications for Use
Difors XL is indicated for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure in adult patients.
Contraindications
Do not use Difors XL if you are pregnant, have severe liver disease, are allergic to amlodipine, valsartan, or any other component of the product, or if you have a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Difors XL may include peripheral edema, dizziness, flushing, and headache. Rare but serious side effects may include hypotension, hyperkalemia, and renal impairment.
Usage Instructions
The recommended dose of Difors XL is one tablet once daily. It can be taken with or without food. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with hepatic impairment or renal insufficiency.
Benefits Compared to Analogues
Difors XL offers the advantage of dual antihypertensive therapy with amlodipine and valsartan in a single tablet, simplifying dosing and potentially improving medication adherence compared to separate administration of these agents.
Suitable Patient Groups
Difors XL is suitable for adult patients with hypertension. It may also be used in elderly patients, but caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store Difors XL in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Keep the tablets in the original packaging to protect them from moisture. Check the expiration date on the packaging and do not use the product after the specified date.
Packaging Description
Difors XL is available in blister packs containing 30 coated tablets. Each tablet is imprinted with the product name and strength for easy identification.
Clinical Evidence and Proven Effectiveness
Difors XL has been studied in clinical trials that have demonstrated the efficacy of amlodipine and valsartan in reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The combination therapy has shown good tolerability and safety profiles, making it a valuable option for the management of hypertension.
