Scientific Evidence

Lactulose, the active ingredient in Dufalak Frut oral solution, is a synthetic disaccharide that is not absorbed in the small intestine but is fermented by gut bacteria in the colon. This fermentation process leads to an increase in osmotic pressure and acidification of the colonic contents, resulting in improved bowel movements. Studies have shown that lactulose is effective in the treatment of constipation and hepatic encephalopathy by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and reducing the production of toxic substances in the gut.

Additional Information

It is important to drink an adequate amount of water while using Dufalak Frut oral solution to prevent dehydration. Avoid using laxatives or other medications that may interact with lactulose without consulting a healthcare provider. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice.

Pharmacological Effects: Lactulose works by drawing water into the colon, softening the stool and increasing bowel movements. It also promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, which can help improve overall gut health.

Clinical Trials: Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of lactulose in the treatment of constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. A study published in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology found that lactulose was effective in improving stool frequency and consistency in patients with chronic constipation.
