The recommended dose is one capsule daily, swallowed whole with a glass of water.

Indications

Duodart is indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men with an enlarged prostate.

Contraindications

Do not take Duodart if you are allergic to dutasteride, tamsulosin, or any other ingredients in the capsules.

Directions

Take Duodart exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

Scientific Evidence

Duodart combines the 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor dutasteride with the alpha-blocker tamsulosin to provide a dual mode of action in the treatment of BPH. Dutasteride inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, reducing prostate size, while tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow.

Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Duodart in improving symptoms of BPH, reducing the risk of acute urinary retention and the need for BPH-related surgery. Research published in the Journal of Urology has shown that the combination of dutasteride and tamsulosin is more effective than either drug alone in improving urinary symptoms and flow rates in men with BPH.

Additional Information

It is important to note that Duodart may cause side effects such as dizziness, decreased libido, and erectile dysfunction. It is essential to discuss any concerns or potential interactions with your healthcare provider before starting this medication.

Before using Duodart, inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking, especially alpha-blockers or other 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, to avoid potential drug interactions.
