ESCUVEN PHARMACOLOGICAL GROUP
ATC code С05С Х.
Escin is a natural blend of triterpene saponins obtained from horse chestnut seeds (Aesculus hippocastanum L.), which have decongestant, venotonic and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, escin acts at the initial stage of the inflammatory process associated with increased membrane and capillary permeability and the production of exudate into adjacent tissues.
Escin has antiserotonin and antihistamine effects.
Escin inhibits the activity of prostaglandin synthetase. This enzyme is required for the formation of prostaglandins, which play an important role in the mechanism of inflammation.
Escin prevents a decrease in ATP in endothelial cells and increases the activity of phospholipase A2, an enzyme responsible for the release of precursors of inflammatory mediators.
Escin reduces the activity of lysosomal enzymes that break down proteoglycans contained in the capillary walls. This increases the resistance of the capillaries, reduces their permeability, thus reducing the amount of exudate and the formation of edema.
INDICATIONS
Varicose veins, leg edema and pain associated with venous insufficiency, post-traumatic hematomas and hematomas after injections and infusions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
