Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics.
Substances contained in liquid extracts of both plantain and thyme (thyme), in particular essential oils, as expectorants affect the properties, formation and transport of bronchial secretions.
There is both an indirect reflex effect through the gastric mucosa and a direct effect of essential oils on the bronchial glands, which enhances their activity. This helps to increase, thin and dissolve bronchial secretions, as well as increase the transport of secretions through the ciliated epithelium. This is especially important in the later stages of acute bronchitis and in chronic bronchitis, when there is increased secretion of viscous mucus by the submucosal glands. In addition, essential oils due to their surface activity reduce the binding capacity of highly viscous mucus on the tracheobronchial mucosa.
Thyme is characterized by a pronounced antimicrobial potential of thymol and carvacrol. Plant mucous substances of plantain help protect the damaged bronchial mucosa from further irritation.
Pharmacokinetics.
Not studied.
Indication
Symptomatic treatment of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract. An expectorant for the symptomatic treatment of productive cough. Supportive agent for whooping cough.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, fructose intolerance; hypersensitivity to alkyl-4-hydroxybenzoates. Hypersensitivity to plants of the family Lamiaceae, celery and birch pollen (possible cross-reaction).
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, including reflux esophagitis, gastritis with high acidity of gastric juice, gastric and duodenal ulcers, severe liver or kidney disease.

Do not use in patients with fructose intolerance, impaired glucose-galactose absorption or sucrose-isomaltose. Due to the sugar content it can be harmful to teeth (caries).
At the first signs of hypersensitivity reactions, the drug should not be continued.
Use with caution in patients with diabetes.
