Farmaton Kiddy Pharmacological properties
Adequate intake of vitamins and minerals is usually provided by a varied and balanced diet. Pharmaton® Kiddy, syrup, contains 7 vitamins, mineral calcium and additional lysine. Lysine is an essential amino acid that, among other functions, plays an important role in bone formation. Because essential amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body, sufficient amounts must be consumed. B vitamins are necessary for the normalization of metabolic functions. Mineral calcium is important for bone formation. It enters the body mainly with milk and dairy products.
Indication
Increased need for vitamins, mineral calcium and the essential amino acid lysine in children during growth, loss of appetite, recovery from illness, decreased physical endurance, to increase the body’s resistance, productivity and concentration.
Contraindication
Disorders of calcium metabolism (hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria); hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; concomitant use of other drugs containing vitamin D; hypervitaminosis D; phenylketonuria; renal failure; kidney stones containing calcium.
Children with rare hereditary problems of intolerance to any component of the drug should not use this medicine.
Special security measures
Pharmaton® Kiddy should not be used for a long time or in doses that exceed the recommended ones.
Daily consumption of large amounts of syrup (up to 75 ml) for a long time can cause symptoms of chronic intoxication as a result of overdose of fat-soluble vitamin D with subsequent hypercalcemia, such as vomiting, headache, drowsiness and diarrhea.
Therapeutic measures for the treatment of hypercalcaemia may be required (see section “Overdose”).
Signs of calcium and vitamin D intoxication may occur even at low doses in susceptible patients with hypercalcaemia or in conditions associated with hypercalcaemia, in patients with renal insufficiency and / or predisposition to kidney stones. Pharmaton® Kiddy should be avoided in such patients.
Pharmaton® Kiddy, a syrup, contains aspartame, which includes, in particular, the amino acid phenylalanine.
15 ml of syrup contains 12.63 mg of phenylalanine, which can cause problems in patients with phenylketonuria. The use of the drug Pharmaton® Kiddy, syrup, in these patients is possible only in case of urgent need and under the supervision of a physician.
The drug contains 2.6 g of sorbitol in 15 ml. Children with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine.
