FLAGYL COMPOSITION
active substance: metronidazole
1 suppository contains metronidazole 500 mg

INDICATIONS
Local treatment of Trichomonas and nonspecific vaginitis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to metronidazole or to other components of the drug. Hypersensitivity to imidazole derivatives.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
The drug is allowed to be used for the treatment of adult patients only.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
From the gastrointestinal tract:
minor disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
glossitis with dry mouth, stomatitis, taste disturbances, anorexia
cases of pancreatitis that are reversible
discoloration or change in the appearance of the tongue (mycosis).
On the part of the skin and its derivatives:
flushing, itching, rash, which may be accompanied by fever
toxic epidermal necrolysis
fixed toxicoderma
Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
From the nervous system:
peripheral sensory neuropathy
headache, dizziness, confusion, seizures
From the side of the psyche:
Hallucinations
depressed mood.
On the part of the organs of vision:
temporary visual impairments, such as blurred vision, diplopia, myopia, decreased visual acuity, changes in color perception
optic neuropathy / neuritis.
Hematological disorders:
agranulocytosis, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia.
Hepatobiliary system:
an increase in the level of liver enzymes (AST, ALT, ALP), very rarely cases of acute cholestatic or mixed hepatitis and hepatocellular liver damage, sometimes with the appearance of jaundice, have been reported. Reported isolated cases of hepatocellular insufficiency, which may be required for liver transplantation.
On the part of the hearing and balance organs:
hearing impairment / hearing loss (including sensorineural)
tinnitus.
other:
reddish-brown color of urine due to water-soluble pigments that are formed during the metabolism of this drug.
OVERDOSE
Recorded cases of a single dose of up to 12 g with suicidal attempts and accidental overdose. There may be ataxia, vomiting, slight disorientation. Since the specific antidote to metronidazole is unknown, symptomatic therapy is recommended.
