Method of administration and dosage

Fluxen is intended for oral administration. The drug can be taken with or without food.

If you need to use a single dose of less than 20 mg, you must use another form of the drug!

For obsessive-compulsive disorders, the recommended starting dose is 20 mg / day. In the absence of effectiveness after 2 weeks, the dose can be gradually increased up to 60 mg / day. If, after 10 weeks, no efficacy is observed from fluoxetine therapy, it is necessary to reconsider the treatment regimen, and, possibly, to cancel the drug. The doctor should regularly evaluate the effectiveness of therapy and, on its basis, establish the duration of the course of treatment.

The recommended doses can be increased or decreased, but the use of the drug at a dose of more than 80 mg / day has not been studied.

Patients with impaired liver function need to correct the dosage regimen (reduce the dose or increase the interval between doses), because the half-life of fluoxetine and norfluoxetine increases. Patients with impaired renal function, concomitant diseases or taking other drugs need to adjust the dosage regimen.

Elderly patients with normal renal function do not require dosage adjustment. However, it is not recommended to exceed the daily dose of 40 mg.
