Forlax Composition
active substance: macrogol 4000;
1 sachet contains macrogol 4000 10 g;
excipients: sodium saccharin, oranges and grapefruit scent (orange oil, grapefruit oil, concentrated orange juice, citral, acetic acid aldehyde, linalol, ethyl butyrate, alpha-terpineol, octanal, beta-gamma hexenol, dextrinol acrylate (E 420), butylhydroxyanisole (E 320), sulfur dioxide (E 220)).

Basic physical and chemical properties: white or almost white powder, easily soluble in water, with the smell of orange and grapefruit.

Pharmacodynamics
High molecular weight macrogols (4000) are long linear polymers that contain water molecules through hydrogen bonds. After oral administration, the volume of fluid in the intestine increases. The volume of non-adsorbed fluid in the intestine is responsible for the laxative properties of the solution.
Pharmacokinetics
Pharmacokinetic research data confirm that macrogol 4000 is not absorbed or metabolized after oral administration.
Indications
Symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children over 8 years old
Contraindications
Severe inflammatory bowel disease (eg, ulcerative
colitis, Crohn’s disease) or toxic megacolon.
Perforation or risk of perforation of the gastrointestinal tract.
Ileus or suspected intestinal obstruction, symptomatic stenosis.
Pain syndromes in the abdomen of undetermined origin.
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the drug.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
It is possible to slow down the absorption of drugs that are taken simultaneously with Forlax. Therefore, it is recommended to take Forlax separately from other medicines, with an interval of at least 2 hours.
Application features
Before starting treatment, you must make sure that there are no organic intestinal disorders.
Forlax (10 g) is prescribed for the temporary treatment of constipation as an adjunct, subject to the appropriate sanitary and hygienic measures and diet, with a maximum duration of treatment for children – 3 months. The fact that symptoms persist despite adherence to hygiene and dietary guidelines should be identified and addressed.
Treatment of constipation with any drug is only an auxiliary therapy, it involves adherence to a healthy lifestyle and food culture:
consuming more fluids and dietary fiber;
