Ingredients
Each Hartil-AM capsule contains 5 mg of ramipril and 10 mg of amlodipine.
Mechanism of Action
Hartil-AM combines the effects of ramipril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, with amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker. Ramipril inhibits ACE, thereby reducing angiotensin II levels, leading to vasodilation and decreased aldosterone secretion. Amlodipine blocks calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, resulting in vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance.
Pharmacological Properties
The combination of ramipril and amlodipine in Hartil-AM provides additive antihypertensive effects. Ramipril lowers blood pressure by vasodilation and reducing fluid retention, while amlodipine acts as a vasodilator by inhibiting calcium influx into cells.
Indications for Use
Hartil-AM is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive medications.
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to ramipril, amlodipine, or any other component of the formulation.
- History of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatment.
- Pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Hartil-AM may include dizziness, headache, cough, edema, and flushing. Serious side effects such as angioedema and hypotension may occur rarely.
Usage Instructions
Dosage: Take one capsule orally per day at the same time each day. Do not chew or crush the capsule; swallow it whole with water.
Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. If close to the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double doses.
