Indirab Composition
active substance: rabies, inactivated, whole virus;
One dose (0.5 ml) of the reconstituted vaccine contains inactivated rabies virus, CM strain, made on Vero cell culture – not less than 2.5 IU;
excipients: maltose – 5%, human albumin – 1%;
preservative: thiomersal – 0.01%;
solvent: sodium chloride injection 0.3% – 0.5 ml.

Lyophilized powder for solution for injection and solvent.
Basic physical and chemical properties: The rabies vaccine is a lyophilized powder of white or slightly pink color. After dissolving, a clear or slightly opalescent solution.
The solvent is a clear, colorless liquid, practically free of visible particles.

Indirab Immunological properties
The vaccine is a Pitman Moore (RM) rabies virus vaccine strain grown in a Vero cell culture, inactivated with beta-propiolactone, concentrated by chromatography, followed by purification by ultrafiltration and sterile filtration.
Pharmacodynamics
The vaccine induces the development of immunity against the rabies virus.

Evaluation of pharmacokinetic properties is optional for vaccines.
Indications
Prophylactic immunization (pre-exposure immunization): recommended for persons who, by the nature of their professional activities, belong to a risk group, in particular, workers in veterinary laboratories, clinics and laboratories working with a typical rabies virus; hunters; foresters; veterinary medicine specialists; slaughterhouse workers; taxidermist; persons performing work on catching and keeping stray animals; employees of animal shelters; the military; postmen; children who are in constant contact with animals and have a high risk of infection with the rabies virus.
Therapeutic and prophylactic immunization (post-exposure immunization): recommended for use by persons who have been bitten, scratched, mucous or sick or suspected of having rabies.
Contraindications
Preventive immunization (pre-exposure immunization):
acute infectious or non-infectious disease or exacerbation of a chronic disease, vaccinations are recommended to be postponed until the patient recovers;
allergic reactions to the previous administration of this drug (generalized rash, Quincke’s edema, etc.);
known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine;
pregnancy.
