Scientific Evidence:
Studies have shown that the combination of metformin and sitagliptin in Janumet leads to improved glycemic control by reducing fasting and postprandial plasma glucose levels. The dual mechanism of action of these two drugs targets insulin resistance and enhances insulin secretion, making it a potent option for managing type 2 diabetes.
Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Janumet in lowering HbA1c levels and improving beta-cell function. Research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism highlighted the significant reduction in HbA1c levels with the use of Janumet compared to metformin alone.
Additional Information:
- Janumet may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. These symptoms usually improve with continued use.
- Regular monitoring of renal function is recommended while taking Janumet to prevent lactic acidosis.
