Description

Ketodyn (Ketoconazole) Vaginal Suppositories 400 mg. №10

Composition

Each Ketodyn suppository contains 400 mg of ketoconazole, an antifungal medication used to treat yeast infections.

Mechanism of Action

Ketoconazole, the active ingredient in Ketodyn, exerts its antifungal effects by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability and ultimately fungal cell death.

Pharmacological Properties

Ketoconazole exhibits broad-spectrum antifungal activity against various yeasts and dermatophytes. It penetrates well into tissues and exerts its fungicidal action by disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity.

Indications for Use

Ketodyn is indicated for the treatment of vaginal yeast infections caused by Candida species. It effectively combats the overgrowth of Candida by targeting the fungal cell membrane, thereby resolving the infection.

Contraindications

  • Avoid using Ketodyn if you have a known allergy to ketoconazole or any components of the product.
  • Usage of Ketodyn during pregnancy is generally not recommended unless the benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Ketodyn may include vaginal irritation, burning, or itching. In rare cases, systemic absorption of ketoconazole may lead to hepatotoxicity or adrenal insufficiency. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience any unusual symptoms.

Usage Instructions

For optimal results, follow your healthcare provider’s instructions precisely. Before and after administration, ensure proper hand hygiene. Prepare the suppository by moistening it with lukewarm water. Insert the suppository deeply into the vagina while lying on your back with knees bent. Remain in this position for a few minutes to enhance retention.

Advantages Over Analogues

Ketodyn offers the advantage of targeted local therapy with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the risk of systemic side effects compared to oral antifungal agents. Its convenient once-daily dosing regimen enhances patient compliance and treatment efficacy.

Suitable Patient Groups

Ketodyn is suitable for use in adult women and may be prescribed for adolescent patients under medical supervision. It is not typically recommended for use in children. Elderly individuals can safely use Ketodyn following standard dosing guidelines.

Storage and Shelf Life

Store Ketodyn suppositories at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Check the packaging for the expiration date and do not use the product beyond this date.

Packaging Description

Ketodyn is available in a package containing 10 vaginal suppositories, each individually wrapped for single-use convenience. The packaging should be kept intact until the suppository is ready for administration.
