Scientific Evidence
Xylometazoline hydrochloride, the active ingredient in Ksilo-TEVA nasal spray, is a sympathomimetic compound that acts as a selective alpha-adrenergic agonist. It works by constricting the blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and congestion. Clinical studies have shown its effectiveness in providing rapid relief from nasal congestion.
Additional Information
It is important to follow the recommended dosage and not exceed the stated frequency of use to avoid rebound congestion. Consult a healthcare professional before using this product if you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking other medications.
Pharmacological Effects
Xylometazoline hydrochloride acts locally on the nasal mucosa, leading to vasoconstriction and decreased nasal blood flow. This results in reduced nasal congestion and improved airflow. The onset of action is rapid, providing quick relief from nasal symptoms.
Clinical Trials and Comparative Effectiveness
Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of xylometazoline in relieving nasal congestion compared to placebo. In comparative studies, xylometazoline has shown similar effectiveness to other nasal decongestants. However, its longer duration of action may provide sustained relief for a longer period.
Overall, Ksilo-TEVA nasal spray offers a reliable and effective solution for nasal congestion, backed by scientific evidence and clinical trials.
