Lamicon spray Pharmacotherapeutic group
Antifungal drugs for topical use. Terbinafine. ATX code D01A E15.

Pharmacodynamics
Terbinafine is an allylamine with a broad spectrum of antifungal activity. Terbinafine in an appropriate concentration has a fungicidal effect against dermatophytes, molds and some dimorphic fungi. Activity against yeast fungi, depending on their type, can be fungicidal or fungistatic.
Terbinafine specifically inhibits the early stage of sterol biosynthesis in the fungal cell membrane. This leads to a deficiency of ergosterol and to intracellular accumulation of squalene, which causes the death of the fungal cell. Terbinafine works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase in the cell membrane of the fungus. This enzyme does not belong to the cytochrome P450 system. Terbinafine does not affect the metabolism of hormones or other drugs.

Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, the drug is almost not absorbed, quickly begins to act, and is effective with short-term treatment (7 days).

When applied externally, less than 5% of the dose is absorbed, therefore the systemic exposure of terbinafine is insignificant.

Indications
Fungal skin infections caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton (eg T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum, eg athlete’s foot (athlete’s foot), groin dermatophytosis) (jockey’s itch) , dermatophytosis of the trunk (ringworm). Versicolor versicolor caused by Pityrosporum orbiculare (also known as Malassezia furfur).

Application features
The drug is for external use. Avoid inhalation. In case of accidental inhalation, a doctor should be consulted if any side symptoms worsen or persist.

Avoid getting the drug in the eyes. Do not spray on your face. In case of accidental contact with eyes or face, rinse immediately with running water.

Because fungal infections can be passed on to other people, only personalized towels and linen should be used that should not be used by others.

To prevent reinfection with mycoses of the skin, the following rules must be observed: change linen daily, since there may be fungi on clothes that have been in contact with infected skin surfaces; avoid wearing clothes that are too tight or that are poorly breathable; dry the affected skin thoroughly after washing it; use a clean personal towel daily. With mycosis of the feet, you cannot walk barefoot. In addition to external treatment, it is recommended to spray socks or shoes inside with Lamikon® spray once a day.
