Lincomicin hydrochloride capsulesis used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by the drug-sensitive microflora:

Description

Lincomicin hydrochloride capsules composition
active substance: lincomycin;
1 capsule contains lincomycin hydrochloride, in terms of lincomycin, 250 mg;
excipients: colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, calcium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose.
The composition of the capsule shell: titanium dioxide (E 171), gelatin.

Dosage form
Capsules.

Pharmacological properties
Lincomicin hydrochloride capsules is an antibacterial agent. Suppresses protein synthesis in bacterial cells, reversibly binding to the 50S ribosome subunit, which leads to disruption of the formation of peptide bonds.

Indications
Lincomicin hydrochloride capsulesis used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by the drug-sensitive microflora:

  • musculoskeletal system (osteomyelitis and septic arthritis);
  • respiratory tract and ENT organs (tracheitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, lung abscess, sinusitis, otitis media);
  • lesions of soft tissues (infected purulent wounds, furunculosis, panaritium, mastitis, erysipelas and abscesses).

Contraindications
Lincomicin hydrochloride capsules is not prescribed to patients who have been identified as hypersensitive to antibacterial drugs belonging to the lincosamide group. Also, it is not prescribed for children under 6 years old and patients who suffer from severe impairment of the kidneys or liver.

Application for pregnancy and lactation
It is recommended to avoid the use of Lincomicin in the treatment of nursing and pregnant women. In the II and III trimesters, the appointment of Lincomicin is possible only for vital signs and after a careful balance of benefits and harms from its use.
When prescribing Lincomicin to a woman at the lactation stage, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding.

Method of administration and dosage
The doctor selects the duration of treatment and the dose of Lincomicin hydrochloride capsules individually, taking into account the patient’s age and the severity of the disease. Capsules are taken 30 or 60 minutes before or 2 hours after meals. It is not recommended to open or chew the capsules before use.

  • Children weighing more than 25 kg from 6 to 14 years old are prescribed 30 mg of the drug per kg of body weight. The daily dose is divided into 2 or 3 doses. When treating with Lincomicin, it is recommended to strictly observe equal intervals of time between taking the drug. If necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 60 mg per kg of body weight of the child.
  • Adult patients receive 500 mg of the drug 3 times a day, after equal time intervals. If necessary, the daily dose of the drug can be increased to 2000 mg.

On average, treatment takes 7 to 14 days. In the treatment of severe forms of osteomyelitis, the duration of treatment can be increased to 21 days.
The use of Lincomycin in the treatment of patients with impaired renal or hepatic function is possible only after a dosage adjustment.

Overdose
At the moment, there are no officially described cases of acute overdose of Lincomycin. However, with prolonged use of the drug in high doses, patients develop candidal infections and pseudomembranous colitis.
If symptoms of an overdose are detected in the patient, the patient is discontinued from Lincomycin therapy and the correct symptomatic treatment is prescribed.

Side effects
Reception of Lincomicin is well tolerated by patients, but in some cases, patients have an increase in the activity of hepatic enzymes, nausea, vomiting, esophagitis, stool disorder, muscle weakness, headaches, dizziness, hypertension, angioedema, urticaria, pruritus and rashes.
If during therapy with Lincomycin, the patient has any unusual reactions, it is recommended to urgently inform the attending physician about them.

Storage conditions and periods
Lincomicin hydrochloride capsules must be stored in a dark and dry place, out of the reach of children, in its original packaging. Shelf life is 4 years.
