Lira oral solution composition
active substance: citicoline;
1 ml of the drug contains 104.5 mg sodium citicoline in terms of citicoline – 100 mg;
excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218); propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216); potassium sorbate; sodium citrate; citric acid, monohydrate; sorbitol (E 420); saccharin sodium; food flavoring “Strawberry 653; 665 “; glycerol; purified water.

Pharmacological properties
Citicoline preserves neuronal energy stores, inhibits apoptosis, which improves cholinergic transmission.
Clinical studies have shown that citicoline significantly increases the indicators of functional recovery in patients with acute cerebrovascular accident, which coincides with a slowdown in the growth of ischemic brain damage according to neuroimaging data. In patients with traumatic brain injury, citicoline accelerates recovery and reduces the duration and intensity of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Citicoline improves the level of attention and consciousness, helps to reduce the manifestations of amnesia, cognitive and other neurological disorders associated with cerebral ischemia.

The experience of using citicoline in children is limited.

Application during pregnancy or lactation
There is insufficient data on the use of citicoline in pregnant women. There are no data on the excretion of citicoline in breast milk and its effect on the fetus. Therefore, during pregnancy or lactation, the drug should be prescribed only when the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Method of administration and dosage
Take Lira oral solution by mouth. The recommended dose for adults is from 500 mg (5 ml) to 2000 mg (20 ml) per day, which should be divided into 2-3 doses. Take with or without food.
Pour the required amount of Lira oral solution into a syringe dispenser and mix with a small amount of water, take with a syringe dispenser. It is necessary to rinse the syringe dispenser with water after each use.
Doses of the drug and the duration of treatment depend on the severity of the brain damage and are set by the doctor individually.

Overdose
Overdose cases are not described.

Side effects:
