Pharmacological properties
Livagyn-M belongs to antifungal drugs used topically in gynecological practice.
Ketoconazole produces a fungicidal and fungistatic effect against dermatophyte fungi, yeast (candida, cryptococci, others), higher fungi – eumycetes, as well as staphylococci and streptococci.
Fungi of the genus Aspergillus, other various fungi of the genus fucomycetes, except for the fungi entomophtralis, are less sensitive to the effects of ketoconazole.
Ketoconazole has the ability to disrupt the integrity of fungal cells by damaging their membranes. Produces inhibition of orgosterols with lanosterol.
Like other azole compounds, the antifungal effect of ketoconazole is due to its ability to inhibit cell respiration, disrupt triglyceride biosynthesis, or otherwise disrupt the cellular metabolism of fungi.
If this substance is used in high concentrations, especially with a direct physicochemical effect on fungal membranes, then the drug also has a fungicidal effect.
However, there were no cases of development of secondary resistance to ketoconazole.
