Description
Locoid lipocrem composition
active substance: hydrocortisone 17-butyrate;
1 g of cream contains 1 mg of hydrocortisone 17-butyrate;
excipients: cetostearyl alcohol; macrogol cetostearyl ether; light mineral oil; white soft paraffin; propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216); benzyl alcohol; citric acid anhydrous; sodium citrate; purified water.
Dosage form
Cream.
Pharmacological properties
It is a topical hormonal agent. Shows immunosuppressive, anti-allergic, anti-exudative, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic effects. Inhibits exudative, proliferative processes in the focus of inflammation.
Indications
Locoid lipocrem is indicated for skin diseases of non-microbial genesis (eczema, seborrhea, psoriasis, neurodermatitis, allergic dermatitis).
Contraindications
Locoid lipocrem is not used:
- with intolerance to the components;
- with skin damage;
- with bacterial infections (pyoderma, syphilitic, tuberculous lesions);
- with viral infections (chickenpox, herpes zoster, herpes simplex, common warts, flat warts, genital warts, molluscum contagiosum);
- with infections caused by fungi, yeast;
- with parasitic infections (scabies);
- with ulcerative skin lesions;
- with adverse reactions caused by GCS (striae, perioral dermatitis);
- with ichthyosis;
- with juvenile plantar dermatosis;
- with acne vulgaris;
- with rosacea;
- with fragility of skin vessels;
- with skin atrophy;
- with skin neoplasms.
Children
Use for children from 3 months.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Glucocorticosteroids are able to cross the placental barrier. The effect on the fetus may be more pronounced when applied to larger surfaces. Application during pregnancy can lead to fetal abnormalities, intrauterine growth retardation.
If necessary, breastfeeding is discontinued.
Method of administration and dosage
Locoid lipocrem is used topically in dermatology.
For adults, apply a thin layer of ointment 2-3 times a day to the affected area of the skin.
The maximum total course dose is 30-60 g per week.
Occlusive dressings can be used to enhance the effect in confined areas.
For children from one year old, the ointment is applied in a thin layer to the affected skin up to twice a day. The duration of use in children should not exceed 5 days. The use of an occlusive dressing for the treatment of children is contraindicated. When treating children, the total duration of therapy is limited, measures leading to increased absorption of the drug (fixing, occlusive, warming dressings) are excluded.
With long-term treatment, it is necessary to monitor growth, weight, plasma cortisol levels.
Avoid getting the drug in the eyes.
If after seven days of use there is no improvement or the condition worsens, as well as with the recurrence of symptoms, the use of the drug should be discontinued, consult a doctor regarding further tactics.
Overdose
With prolonged use of the ointment, applied to large areas of the lesion, hypercortisolism may develop.
Side effects:
- Dermatological disorders: hyperemia, swelling, itching, the development of secondary infectious lesions of the skin, atrophic skin changes, hypertrichosis.
- Endocrine disorders: the development of symptoms of hypercortisolism (glucosuria, hyperglycemia, reversible suppression of adrenal cortex function, Itsenko-Cushing’s syndrome).
- Immune disorders: allergic reactions (angioedema, anxiety, chest tightness, urticaria, tingling at the injection site, burning sensation, hot flashes, hypotension, chills, headache, nausea, lethargy, ringing in the ears, tachycardia, vomiting, wheezing, paresthesia, anaphylaxis).
Storage conditions and periods
Store Locoid lipocrem no more than three years at temperatures up to +25 ° C.
It is forbidden to use after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Parents are obliged to ensure the safety of children, excluding the possibility of their access to medicine.
