Pharmacological properties
Loflatil belongs to the group of combined antidiarrheal drugs that inhibit intestinal peristalsis.
The active components of this drug – loperamide hydrochloride and simethicone – in the complex have an enhanced effect.
Loperamide hydrochloride is able to bind to the receptors of the intestinal walls, as a result of which its peristalsis is inhibited.
The action of the drug entails an increase in the transit time of the intestine, due to which the resorption of water and ionic solutions, responsible for the transmission of impulses – electrolytes, is enhanced.
Loperamide does not have a central effect on the body. Does not lead to changes in the physiological microflora in the intestine or an increase in the tone of the anus sphincter.
Simethicone, in turn, is an inert surfactant with defoaming properties. As a result, its intake suppresses the symptoms of diarrhea, flatulence, bloating and cramps.
