Pharmacological properties
Desloratadine is a selective blocker of peripheral histamine H1-receptors that does not cause a sedative effect. Desloratadine is the primary active metabolite of loratadine. Following oral administration, desloratadine selectively blocks peripheral H1-histamine receptors and does not cross the blood-brain barrier.

Desloratadine passes into breast milk, so the drug is not recommended for women who are breast-feeding.

Method of application and dosage
Lordes is for oral use. Adults and children over 12 years of age should take 1 tablet (5 mg) once a day, regardless of food intake. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water. Lordes are preferably taken regularly, at the same time of day.
The duration of treatment is determined by the severity and course of the disease.

  • Treatment of intermittent allergic rhinitis (symptoms less than 4 days a week or less than 4 weeks) should be based on medical history: discontinue after symptoms resolve and resume after recurrence.
  • In persistent allergic rhinitis (symptoms for more than 4 days a week or more than 4 weeks), treatment should be continued throughout the allergen period.

Overdose
No clinically relevant adverse reactions were observed in clinical trials in which desloratadine was administered at doses of 45 mg (9 times the recommended dose). Accidental ingestion of large doses of Lordes® may increase the side effects – fatigue, dry mouth, headache, tachycardia.
