Description
Lordes syrup composition
active substance: desloratadine;
5 ml of syrup contain desloratadine 2.5 mg;
excipients: propylene glycol, citric acid anhydrous; sodium citrate, sodium benzoate (E 211), trilon B, sucrose, sorbitol (E 420), yellow FCF (E 110), flavoring “Tutti Frutti AG7322”, purified water.

Pharmacological properties
A highly effective antihistamine for systemic use.
Desloratadine, which is the main active ingredient of the drug, is a selective blocker of peripheral histamine H1 receptors. At the same time, it does not produce a sedative effect.
In addition, desloratadine is the primary active metabolite of loratadine, which does not cross the blood-brain barrier.
As revealed by many years of scientific research, in addition to its antihistaminic properties, desloratadine produces antiallergic as well as anti-inflammatory effects.
Indications
It is used as a medicine used to treat allergy symptoms such as:
- allergic rhinitis – sneezing, sinus discharge, itching, sinus swelling (nasal congestion causing difficulty in nasal breathing), itching and redness of the eyes, watery eyes, itching in the palate, cough;
- urticaria – itching, rash.
In addition, desloratadine is able to suppress a chain of various reactions that are the foundation for the development of an inflammatory process of an allergic nature, namely:
- the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines;
- secretions of pro-inflammatory chemokines;
- the production of superoxide anion using activated polymorphonuclear neutrophils;
- adhesion and chemotaxis of eosinophils;
- expression of adhesion molecules, in particular P-selectin;
- IgE-dependent release of histamine, prostaglandin D2 and leukotriene C4;
- acute allergic bronchospasm.
Contraindications
It is not applied if the patient has hypersensitivity (allergy) to one of the components that make up the drug.
Since the drug contains sorbitol, it should not be used in patients with congenital fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrose-ismaltose insufficiency.
Children
In pediatrics, it is used for children from 6 months of age.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
This medicinal product is not recommended for use during pregnancy or lactation. The final decision is made by the attending physician based on the benefit / harm ratio for the life of the woman and the fetus.
Method of administration and dosage
Lordes syrup is taken with or without food, once a day, at approximately the same time of day.
Recommended dosages for children aged:
- from 6 to 11 months – 2 milliliters of syrup;
- from 1 to 5 years – 2.5 milliliters of syrup;
- from 6 to 11 years old – 5 milliliters of syrup;
- 12 years and older (adults) – 10 ml of syrup.
In order to measure the recommended dosage, you should use the enclosed pipette using the scale printed on it.
The duration of treatment depends on the duration and severity of the course of the disease.
- Therapy for intermittent allergic rhinitis (symptoms at least 4 days a week) should be carried out taking into account the history: stop after the disappearance of symptoms and resume after they appear.
- With persistent allergic rhinitis, therapy with this drug continues during the entire period of contact with the allergen.
Overdose
In case of an overdose with this drug, symptomatic treatment should be carried out, detoxification measures should be taken – gastric lavage, intake of sorbents.
Hemodialysis is recommended.
Side effects
Therapy with this drug can cause:
- hallucinations;
- nausea, dry mouth, vomiting, dyspepsia;
- dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, psychomotor hyperactivity, convulsions, headache;
- tachycardia;
- myalgia;
- increased activity of liver enzymes, the level of bilirubin in the blood plasma, hepatitis;
- an allergic reaction in the form of hypersensitivity reactions of Quincke’s edema, shortness of breath, anaphylactic shock;
- hives, itching, rash;
- increased fatigue, fever.
If any unusual side effects occur due to the use of this drug, you should consult your doctor about possible changes in the treatment regimen.
Storage conditions and periods
Lordes syrup is stored for up to 2 years at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
The drug should be stored in its original packaging in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children.
