Lugol solution with glycerine composition
active substances: iodine, potassium iodide, glycerin;
1 g of solution contains: iodine – 0.01 g, potassium iodide – 0.02 g, glycerin in terms of 100% – 0.83 g;
excipients: purified water.

Dosage form
Oral solution.

Pharmacological properties
Lugol solution with glycerine has a bactericidal effect due to the content of free iodine. The drug has antimicrobial action on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including streptococci, staphylococci, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus vulgaris.

Indication
Inflammatory diseases of the mucous membranes of the pharynx and larynx: laryngitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis.

Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Severe liver and kidney disease, severe hyperfunction of the thyroid gland, uncompensated heart, kidney or liver failure; study or radioactive iodine therapy (2 weeks before and after the study or therapy).

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
Do not use simultaneously with hydrogen peroxide solution and other disinfectants.

Features of application
The drug is not intended for oral administration. Do not inhale and / or swallow the drug. Avoid contact with eyes. Use with caution in laryngitis due to the possibility of laryngospasm, tuberculosis, hemorrhagic diathesis.
Do not violate the rules of use of the drug – it can be harmful to health.

Children
Not recommended for children under 5 years.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving a car or other machinery

Method of application and dosage
For external use!
Apply a swab soaked in the drug to the affected mucous membranes of the pharynx and larynx 3-4 times a day.
The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease and its severity.
The patient should consult a doctor if the symptoms of the disease have not disappeared during the use of the drug or there are side effects not listed in the instructions for medical use of the drug.

Overdose
Possible manifestations of iodism: runny nose, urticaria, Quincke’s edema, tearing, salivation, skin rashes, muscle weakness, inhibition.
Treatment. Immediate discontinuation of the drug and symptomatic therapy.

Expiration date
3 years.
