Magnemax composition
active substances: magnesium lactate dihydrate; magnesium podolate; pyridoxine hydrochloride;
10 ml of the drug contain magnesium lactate dihydrate 186 mg and magnesium podolate 936 mg (which corresponds to a total of 100 mg Mg ++ or 4.12 mmol), pyridoxine hydrochloride 10 mg;
Excipients: sodium metabisulfite (E 223); sodium saccharin; caramel of ammonia sulfate (E 150d), containing sulfites in terms of sulfur dioxide (E 220); raspberry flavor containing 96% ethanol, propylene glycol (E 1520), alpha-tocopherol (E 307), ascorbic acid (E 300), purified water; water for injections.

Dosage form
The solution is oral.

Pharmacological properties
This is a combined preparation of vitamin B6 and magnesium.
Vitamin B6 is involved in the synthesis of the hormone serotonin, is involved in protein synthesis, incl. enzymes, histamine, hemoglobin, GABA, glutamic acid, lowers blood cholesterol levels, improves the contractility of the heart muscles, promotes the conversion of folic acid into the active form. Participates in the production of neurotransmitters, is necessary for the normal functioning of the nervous system, liver, takes part in the formation of erythrocytes, promotes the absorption of proteins, fats, has a lipotropic effect. Reduces spasms, muscle cramps, numbness of the limbs, acts as a diuretic.
Magnesium affects almost all bodily functions. It is one of the main elements in energy processes, it is necessary for the formation of bones and teeth, regulates the permeability of cell membranes and their organelles, participates in the functioning of more than 300 enzymes, protects cells from excessive calcium intake, is a calcium antagonist, increases the activity of the antioxidant defense system, reduces convulsive readiness of the body (with eclampsia, preeclampsia), has antithrombotic activity. With magnesium deficiency, neurological disorders (decreased concentration, tremors, muscle spasms) can be observed.

Indications

Contraindications:

  • with intolerance to the components of the drug;
  • with the simultaneous use of other medicines containing magnesium;
  • with the simultaneous use of levodopa;
  • with hypermagnesemia (increased concentration of magnesium in the blood);
  • with hypervitaminosis B6;
  • with severe renal failure;
  • with atrioventricular block;
  • with myasthenia gravis;
  • with severe arterial hypotension;
  • with diarrhea;
  • with phenylketonuria.

Children
The drug Magnemax should be used in children weighing more than 10 kg (about 1 year old).

Application during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation, the usual daily dose for adults is used.

Method of application and dosage
Dissolve the contents of the vials in half a glass of water.

  • Adults: 3-4 vials per day, with a total dose of 2 or 3 doses during meals.
  • Children and infants weighing more than 10 kg (aged about 1 year): 10-30 mg / kg body weight per day (ie 0.4-1.2 mmol / kg body weight per day), corresponding to 1-4 vials per day, with the distribution of the total dose in 2 or 3 meals.

The drug should be discontinued as soon as blood magnesium levels return to normal.

Overdose
Magnesium overdose when administered orally does not usually lead to toxic reactions in patients with normal renal function. However, patients with renal insufficiency may develop magnesium intoxication.
Toxic effects depend on the levels of magnesium in the blood and are manifested by the following signs: a sharp drop in blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, central nervous system depression, reflex dysfunction, pathological changes in the ECG, the development of respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest and respiratory paralysis, anury.
Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis. Patients with renal insufficiency require hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

Side effects
Allergic reactions, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, skin reactions, including itching and urticaria.
