Medocyprin  composition
active substance: ciprofloxacin;
1 film-coated tablet contains ciprofloxacin hydrochloride 583 mg equivalent to ciprofloxacin 500 mg;
Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, talc, polyethylene glycol 6000, opadri white Y-1-7000 (composition includes hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), poly).

Dosage form
Film-coated tablets.

Pharmacological properties

Indications
Medocyprin is used:

  • with infections of the middle ear (otitis media), sinuses (sinusitis, including sinusitis, frontitis, ethmoiditis, sphenoiditis, pansinusitis) caused by Gr-bacteria (gram-negative);
  • in case of lower respiratory tract infection caused by Gr + bacteria (gram-negative) – chronic obstructive disease, pneumonia (except pneumococcal), cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis), bronchiectasis (local enlargement of the bronchi);
  • with kidney infections (pyelitis, pyelonephritis), urinary tract infections (urethritis, cystitis);
  • with infection of soft tissues, skin caused by Gr + bacteria;
  • with intra-abdominal (intra-abdominal) infections;
  • with infection of bones, joints;
  • with infections of the gastrointestinal tract (intestinal infections caused by enterotoxigenic strains of Escherichia coli, Campylobacter jejuni);
  • with an infection of the pelvic organs (adnexitis, prostatitis), incl. gonorrhea;
  • in case of infection in patients with reduced immunity (if neutropenia is detected).

Contraindications:

  • if you are allergic to ciprofloxacin, other quinolones, excipients of this medication;
  • while using tizanidine.

Children
This drug is not used in pediatric practice.

Application during pregnancy and lactation
Medocyprin should not be used during these periods.

Method of administration and dosage
Dosage:

  • for respiratory tract infections: 500-750 mg x2 times / day – 7-14 days;
  • with complicated pyelonephritis: 500-750 mg x2 times / day – at least 10 days, and in some cases (for example, with an abscess) – up to 21 days;
  • for urinary tract infections: uncomplicated cystitis – 250-500 mg x2 times / day – 3 days;
  • with complicated cystitis, uncomplicated pyelonephritis: 500 mg x2 times / day – 7 days;
  • with prostatitis: 500-750 mg x2 times / day – 2-4 weeks (with exacerbation), 4-6 weeks (with chronic course);
  • for genital infections: fungal urethritis, cervicitis – 500 mg once;
  • with orchiepididymitis, inflammatory processes of the pelvic organs: 500-750 mg x2 times / day – at least 14 days;
  • for intestinal infections, intra-abdominal infection: 500 mg x2 times / day – 1 day; for diarrhea caused by Shigella dysenteriae type I – 500 mg x 2 times / day – 5 days; for diarrhea caused by Vibrio cholera – 500 mg x 2 times / day – 3 days; with typhoid fever – 500 mg x2 times / day – 7 days;
  • for intra-abdominal infection caused by Gy-microorganisms – 500–750 mg x 2 times / day – 5–14 days;
  • for infections of soft tissues, skin: 500-750 mg x2 times / day – 7-14 days;
  • in case of infection of joints, bones: 500-750 mg x2 times / day – maximum 3 months;
  • for prophylaxis / treatment of infections in patients with neutropenia: 500–750 mg x 2 times / day – until neutropenia stops;
  • to prevent invasive infection caused by Neisseria meningitides: 500 mg once;
  • for prophylaxis after contact with the patient, as well as the treatment of anthrax: 500 mg x2 times / day – 60 days from the moment of confirmation of infection.

Overdose
Manifest by headache, fatigue, confusion, dizziness, cramps, hallucinations, abdominal discomfort, crystals, blood in the urine, kidney / liver dysfunction. As a first aid, it is recommended to rinse the stomach, take antacids.

Side effects
The following reactions are possible: loose stools, nausea, eosinophilia, fungal superinfections, lack of appetite, agitation, hyperactivity, headaches, taste disturbances, dizziness, sleep disorders, vomiting, flatulence, pain in the stomach / intestines, increased activity of liver enzymes, itching, increased bilirubin levels, musculoskeletal pain, statutory pains, rash, urticaria, impaired renal function, fever, fatigue, change in the number of leukocytes, anemia (anemia), inflammation of the colon, decreased platelet count, increased sugar levels, allergic reactions, confusion consciousness, depression with the appearance of suicidal thoughts, pathological dreams, changes in sensitivity, dizziness, trembling, convulsions, blurred vision, decreased blood pressure, hearing disorders, tachycardia, fainting, liver dysfunction, dyspnea, jaundice, hepatitis, muscle pain, photosensitivity, inflammation joints, muscle cramps, increased muscle tone, kidney failure, nephritis, blood / urine crystals, increased amylase activity, hemolytic anemia, bone marrow suppression, anaphylactic shock, migraine, psychiatric reactions with suicidal attempts, unsteady gait, poor coordination, odor perception disorder, color perception changes, vasculitis, increased intracranial pressure, pancreatitis, petechiae, erythema, liver necrosis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, muscle weakness, toxic epidermal necrolysis, tendon inflammation / rupture (often Achilles), increased sweating, edema, increased prothrombin time, peripheral neuropathy , ventricular tachycardia, pustular exanthema.

Storage conditions and periods
Store Medocyprin at a temperature of 15-25 ° С. The shelf life is 3 years.
